Cremation Choices
Interment of cremains
Interment of cremains

T he law does not require the purchase of a casket before a cremation. However, many people chose cremation over burial but still want the Traditional Funeral . In this case the choices are the same as the Funeral Choices but instead of proceeding to the cemetery for burial the body will be taken to the crematory for cremation. Rental caskets are available. Rental caskets have a separate interior that contain the decedant and that container is removed and cremated.
The simplist type of cremation is a Direct Cremation. This option does not include any viewing/visitation or funeral service, does not require embalming or any other body preparation and requires only the minimum cardboard container. Many people then chose to have a Memorial Service or Celebration of Life service after the cremation.
Options for Cremated Remains:
*Interred (Buried) in a cemetery
*Placement of urn in a niche columbarium at a cemetery
*Retaining the urn at the home of family or friend
*Scattered over land-with written permission of the legal land owner
*Scattered at sea, at least 500 yards from shore
*Transported out of county, state or country.
In addition, there are some alternative options for cremated remains:
*Placed in Keepsake jewelry
